The Williston Area Recreation Center is a 236,000 Square Foot Community Recreation Center, which sits on five acres of land located on the campus of Williston State University in Williston, ND. The Recreation Center includes four indoor tennis courts, an indoor turf, batting cages, four basketball courts, 200-meter track, 50 meter NCAA competition level pool, instruction pool, waterpark, indoor playground, wave pool, several cardio areas, golf simulator, and teen area.
Obernel did the design on the Williston Area Recreation Center for this project mechanically and electrically. The mechanical systems consisted of multiple roof-top air handling units, some of which served single-zone areas and some RTU’s that fed VAV boxes. The VAV boxes had hot water reheat to provide individual zone control. Other systems included innocent pool units, natural gas boilers, centrifugal pumps, exhaust fans, and auxiliary heating units. These systems and components are common in design for buildings in our geographic area.
The Electrical systems for the Williston Area Recreation Center included two 600 kW generators, pool lighting, facility paging system, video surveillance system, voice evacuation fire alarm system, and a structured cabling system.
