Watford City High School
Watford, North Dakota
McKenzie County School District wanted a facility that met their increasing space needs and created a new-and-improved academic program to transform the learning experience for their students. The new high school is a catalyst for the 21st-century collaborative learning environments and flexible education needed in the modern-day delivery of academics. An open, light-filled concourse greets students, staff, and visitors and is an organizing avenue that connects all components of the building’s programs.
The design includes athletic facilities that work together with the adjacent Event Center for outstanding teaching and learning experiences. The Event Center provides amenities for community recreation, theatre, concerts, and a multitude of convention center resources. The center has two ice sheets for hockey, and a multi-purpose fieldhouse with indoor turf for off-season practices. The gymnastics club calls the building home, providing opportunities for community growth. The aquatic center includes a leisure pool with a slide and a six lane competition pool. Support facilities for the swimming pool area include a party room, family locker rooms and standard locker room facilities.
