Cass County Electric Building
Fargo, North Dakota
The 57,500 square feet Cass County Electric Building is a two-story building with an 18,470 square feet basement used for parking. The primary use of the building is office space with a large IT Hotel rented to Idea One. The IT Hotel is approximately 1,700 square feet and houses several hundred servers. We provided heating, ventilation, plumbing and fire protection systems.
The heating, cooling, and ventilation are provided by a water-to-air geothermal heat pump system. All fresh air is tempered by an energy recovery unit and also by geothermal. The project consisted of 40 water to air heat pumps with sixty 200 foot deep wells with traditional grout. The make-up air system is direct resistance and direct expansion (DX) cooling. No electric resistance heating or direct expansion cooling is used for conditioning outside air. The building is completely heated and cooled by geothermal.
